Tara Edaakie, Zuni Polychrome Duck Pottery Bowl

Regular: $216.00

Zuni artist Tara Edaakie has handcrafted this beautiful Polychrome Duck Pottery Bowl.  Tara Edaakie is most well known for her distinct work which is usually ducks and owls.  She likes to finish her work off with a sponge slip which is also one of her trade marks.  This pottery bowl is in the shape of a duck.  It is traditionally hand painted and fired.

"In the Pueblo world, ducks serve as messengers to the rain clouds of the four sacred directions, as seed bearers, and as messengers of the gods."  In Zuni they sometimes are even the Kachina dead or the gods themselves transformed. Pautiwa, the leader of the Zuni Kachinas may take the form of a duck.

Tara Edaakie, N.M hallmark is displayed on the bottom of the pot!
